Fear is a lying son of a bitch who refuses to go away. It can be unrelenting in its pursuit of you. It is a shameless fraudster who knows her poison is just as good as the first time she came around and won’t hesitate to try again. This post is pretty quick to the point. I just came to ask you one thing :
What is the worst that can happen to you if you broke free?
If you decided to raise your hands real high and laugh out real loud, what would happen? If you knew you wouldn’t be laughed at, or jeered, would it make a difference?
You see I know a guy, who hasn’t done one darn of a thing in his life. He has had no responsibilities and no goals. He has no purpose and no real conviction about life. He says he has been cursed and expects that the rest of his days will be lived out this way: with no ambition or impact.
Here’s the thing however ; He is the happiest person I know. He isn’t afraid to wake up each day with nothing to do. He has the loudest laugh and the most optimistic view of life and the beauty of it. He is happy to live each day, to do the one thing he does well : LAUGH
So what’s your excuse living in fear when you have purpose? What’s your excuse for hiding in the dark? What’s your excuse for mot making mistakes?
If this guy can enjoy life, bury his mistakes and regrets and look forward to a new day everyday, what are you waiting for?
See fear, is really good cake or a nice grilled chicken. It’s comfort food. The kind you eat because under the covers with an oversized t-shirt. While the imagery represents comfort; the way everyday should be [in my books], the next morning you are going to wake up and realize not only have you gained some more calories, some nice round pimples and you are further away from the being the awesome person you are hoping to be.
Borrowing the words of one of my favorite singers:
“Clipped wings, I was a broken thing
Had a voice, had a voice but I could not sing
You would wind me down
I struggled on the ground
So lost, the line had been crossed
Had a voice, had a voice but I could not talk
You held me down
I struggle to fly now”
That’s the crippling sensation a lack of confidence brings in the face of adversity. That’s what fear feels like.
But there’s a scream inside that we all try to hide
We hold on so tight, we cannot deny
Eats us alive, oh it eats us alive
Yes, there’s a scream inside that we all try to hide
We hold on so tight, but I don’t wanna die, no
I don’t wanna die, I don’t wanna die
And this is what Faith feels like
Now I fly, hit the high notes
I have a voice, have a voice, hear me roar tonight
You held me down
But I fought back loud
So fear? Yes, that’s easy. Pick Faith, that’s the real adventure. Pick faith to do the one thing you are dreading. Pick faith to travel the world. Pick faith to fall in love over and over again. Pick faith to [as my mother always says] to check out fear.
Use FAITH to check out FEAR.
I will leave you with one of my favorite Brandy songs as well. Be inspired, live and dance while you’re at it!
